Ayla Banebridge is a fanon character created by ijgirl in 2012. She is the daughter of Koki Banebridge (a fan-made last name based on a variant of voice actress Heather Bambrick's last name).

Appearance[]

Ayla is a relatively chubby child; as she grows into her teens she becomes lankier, though still short. As an adult she remains at a height of 5'2-5'3. Her hair is a 3A curl type, and depending on the amount of sun she gets, is either a dark, almost black brown, or a warm chocolate brown. Most often her hair is in twin space buns or two high ponytails. She has a birthmark on her right leg that is a nod to the character the author named her after, the main protagonist of the Earth's Children Series.

Personality[]

Ayla is an extremely bubbly child and teenager, always eager to make friends and happy to educate anyone about environmental causes or engage with animal trivia. She's incredibly intelligent, just like her mother, and an absolute momma's girl. She's also very close with Martin Kratt, and at a very young age decides that he is her surrogate father figure.

History[]

In 2013 (back when the fandom was active) Ayla was debuted in a fanfic on FF.net called Two Little Butterflies. The original fanfic was removed circa 2017-2019, but has since been reuploaded by the original creator. The story was written in collaboration with WildKrattsSuperFan1, and featured Kate Corcovado as a deuteragonist to the story.

It was claimed at some point that "Her father is unknown, as Ayla was a product of a scientific experiment that Koki was unknowingly subjected to," which is only partially true; in one specific alternate universe, Ayla was the product of a scientific experiment, but this is not canon to her in universe life. Ayla's father was a college friend of Koki's, who tricked her into giving him a program she designed, and then proceeded to keep all the profits to himself. Ayla's father was originally meant to reappear as a minor villain in the continuation of Two Little Butterflies, called All Trails Lead Home, but this never happened.

Ayla has grown up in the Tortuga, homeschooled for most of her life. Because she's a child, she usually takes a backseat in most of the villain confrontations, and often attempts to befriend the villains if they don't immediately antagonize her. However, she has been known to kick Zach in the shins as a recurring gag. At one point in her preteens, she attempts to rehabilitate a racoon kit with a broken leg, and names her Daphne; Daphne has a knack for finding Ayla whenever the girl is in the Northern United States.

Alternate Universes[]

Now, Ayla primarily resides in her author's original character canon, which places her completely outside of the Wild Kratts fandom, and has her adventuring around the world as an adult rather than a child.

Notable Alternate Universes within the Wild Kratts fandom include:

The Other Side, by WildKrattsSuperfan1. Like Kate's alternate, who goes by Lindsay, Ayla's alternate goes by a different name, Aliyah.

Trivia[]

At one point, Ayla was going to have psychic powers due to the author's affinity for the 2008 television show, Fringe.

Despite predating the episode, Ayla bears a striking resemblance to Wild Kratts Kid Patricia!

Ayla knows Spanish due to growing up around Aviva.
